From reading lots of reviews on several websites the common issues are; leaking bar oil, difficulty re-starting on random occasions, and difficulty putting chain on. The pros I’ve read are it cuts fast, good power, and handles well.Have only used it for two full days of cutting mostly hardwoods, so early for a review but here are my thoughts. No issues putting chain on. Initially adjusting chain tension was finicky but after running a full day and several adjustments, seemed to break in and became easy.Dispenses A LOT of bar oil. Initially I thought it had a leak. Even though Husqvarna recommends having it set to highest distribution setting for 20” bar, I’ve backed it down to the lowest. Oil still visibly drips from the clutch when running and more than enough on the chain.Starting initially was very easy and seemed to run smoothly. However, four hours in on first day could not get it to restart. After about an hour of letting it sit, fired back up. No issues with starting on second day so thinking maybe flooded or just break in/fluke. But at end of 2nd day it started to idle rough and cutting off when idling. The screws on the carburetor are very limited on how much you can adjust them. And I’m no mechanic, so that’s probably good. But I managed to slightly tweak the “L” “H”and “T” screws. I think I really just increased the idle speed, but seems to have done the trick.Performance:Have only used one other 20” chain saw (Echo), the rest of my experience has been with 18” or 16” chainsaws, but I’m impressed. This saw outperformed the 20” Echo, except re-starting issue, in every way.Cuts through hardwoods and cedar pretty quickly and surprisingly low vibration. A tad heavy but the cutting power and low vibration more than offset any forearm fatigue issues.Summary:Pros: It handles well, cuts well, and low vibration. Good saw in that regard.Cons: Between restart issue on 1st day and idling issues 2nd day, the engine is more finicky than what I’m used to. I’m optimistic that my adjustments have eliminated this and that will not be the case moving forward. I’ll update later. And it does drop a lot of oil, mot sure of my pump is not functioning properly. Assuming it just drops a lot of oil, mot a deal breaker for me.My first recommendation is, if you can afford it, go up to a pro level model. Less weight and better cutting. If this saw falls in the high end of your budget, than I think this is the best saw in this price range and its a big step up from most homeowner category saws. Background:This is not my first chainsaw (I also own a Stihl and a Kawasaki). My Stihl which I received as a hand me down from my Granfather always needed work. The Kawasaki I bought on a sale and really only suitable for light branch work and small trees. Since I added five more acres to my six, and the new acreage had not been cared for in thirty plus years, I needed a saw that could handle the oak and maple with ease so I could clear the dead falls and tres that were encroaching on existing structures that I intended to repair.Decision Process:I looked at the Stihl saws, but my current Stihl was already a shop dweller and I'd did not want to repeat that experience. I looked at the reviews on several sites and talked to several people who owned each. I walked away with both sides being very partisan and decided that both were likely good buys. Based on that, I looked at service and price. Since there are two Husqavarna dealers nearby and one Stihl, service was available, so it came to price. This saw was, frankly, a better buy and Amazon throwing in a free case sweetened the deal.Out of the Box: The saw arrived in excellent condition. The instructions ere clear and concise, and the saw was ready for use in fifteen minutes. I had read some concerns about the chain brake mechanism being a problem, but I experienced no issues. I was careful and followed the instructions, so maybe in that is the answer to other user's issues. I also had to service the saw in the field, and again, had no issues with removing and replacing the the chain. In the Field:The saw was very easy to start. A compression release button makes the pull effortless and easy. The single switch is easy to use although I found it is easy to over choke this engine, which will result in flooding. My advice is that if does not start after a few pulls choked, put the choke in and use the warm start procedure. Chain tension adjustments are easy and the supplied chain of good quality. Two solid days of cutting on the chain without sharpening and the saw was still ready for more.Use: With the twenty inch bar and the horsepower of this saw, this cut through oaks like butter. Okay, maybe a bit of an exaggeration, but it did cut bigger trees more effortlessly than my partner using my Stihl. I was clearly trees at a faster rate and getting them sized for firewood much faster. The largest Oak was around twenty inch diameter, maybe a little more, but I had no issue felling it and clearing it from the roadway.Weight: This saw is heavy and after a day of cutting and hauling, my arms felt it.Power: This saw has plenty of power for the twenty inch bar and the torque can be felt when you pull the throttle.Ergonomic Design: The saw had everything in the right place and was easy to turn and hold for the various cuts. The vibration of the saw was not noticeable and I had good isolation in comparison to the other two saws I own.Recommendations: I recommend this saw and I am very satisfied with my purchase after 45 days or so of regular use. I will update this post if I encounter an issue, but so far this saw is doing great where the Stihl, well, it is back in the shop...again.Received the 460 on Monday and quickly unboxed it and assembled the bar and chain. Had to make sure the stop bar and brake was disengaged to remove the cover after the 2 bolts were removed. Don’t forget that step!Removed the 2 plastic spacers and discarded them. They use those for shipping, not needs once the bar is installed. Put the chain and bar on, careful to point the cutting side in the correct direction. Tightened the bolts a bit and then snuggled up the chain so there was no slack. Finished tightening the 2 bolts using the provided tool, and it was ready to go.Added gas from my pre-mix container. I prefer to buy the 94 octane fuel with oil premixed. 50:1 of course, and that was done.Added the last of my bar oil, it takes a lot so will need more soon. Enough to get this thing going.Read the instructions on how to start. Seemed a bit more complicated than my 40 year old Rancher, but nice to do for this newer model. The decompression button is a life saver. After preparing the machine with break on, choke pulled, kill switch on, and primer pushed 6 times, I pulled the cord. First time it coughed. Good sign, so removed the choke. Second pull it started. Wow.I haven’t used it much since that first start up, but I’m impressed so far. Will update my review as I get into using it a bit more.It is an all around great saw. Just what I need to cut large quantities of wood and big trees.Have a model 550XP too. Excellent as well. Husqvarna is top notch qualityAwesome saw, plenty of power.A nice size saw for around the farm.Very happy with it. The product is being used on our ranch.Very good
