I used the Mobicool to replace an old thermo-electric cooler I had been using. This is a huge step up. Those thermo-electric coolers only cool to about 40F BELOW the ambient temperature. 90F day and your cooler is about 50F. That doesn't cut it for beer and steaks. The Mobicool is great because it goes all the way down to single digits regardless of the outside temperature. I used it for a 4 day camping trip off the grid. I hooked it up to a homemade 30 amp hour battery pack that's charged by a 50 amp solar panel. It worked great. I kept it around 28 degrees as I found that worked best for getting my beer as cold as possible without freezing it. No more soggy bags of lunch meat or water logged steaks. It was like pulling food out of the refrigerator. It's cheaper than the same size yeti and it never needs refilled with ice. It easily holds a 30 pack of cans and enough food for a few days of camping. It's not small but it's also really light when it's empty and full. Think about the weight of the ice that's not in there. It's really convenient if you can afford to spend $280 on a portable refrigerator. I'm glad I bought it. Hopefully it has the same quality as Dometic and this thing lasts me a lifetime.
